Krishnan Subramanian For a day job, Subu (Krishnan Subramanian) has been working as a brand strategist in the communications and advertising business for over thirty years. In these three decades, Subu has worked across many roles (advertising, media, design, activation, retail, digital), across diverse markets (India, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, and now, back to India) and across multiple cultures. During this tenure, he has been tracking consumption cultures across many brands, products and categories in India, making him an experienced observer of this space.
He has worked across blue chip advertising agencies like Ogilvy, McCann, and TBWA in India and in the Asia Pacific region. During these stints, he has worked across many famous brands like Fevicol, Coca Cola, Colgate, Standard Chartered Bank, JSW Paints and Apple.
In the recent past, Subu has also been teaching young aspirants on communication strategy; investing over 200 hours across 25 different colleges and organisations, till date. Over the course of his career, Subu has also written various articles, research papers and case studies that have been published in publications like Economic Times / Brand Equity, Hindu Business Line, AgencyFAQs, Exchange4media etc. He has been awarded the WPP Atticus Certificate thrice over his career for path-breaking articles in the field of communications.
